16 Days of Activism Poem

A poem by ©MaureenVelile
They kill our souls long before they can finish with our bodies
They destroy every part of who we are and then leave us to find someone better
They kill parts of us that took us years to build and love
They crush every part of who we are and they make us believe that we are worth nothing
You make do this They say
You push me too far they say
You don’t understand me they repeat
You know I’m not like this they make believe
I’m a better man when you are better
You need to listen more they complain
They kill our souls long before they kill our bodies
They take our lives long before I ran out breath
In America they chant Black lives matter
And He in my Home Land we cry, we wailing Womxn Lives Matter
We shouting so loud but no one can hear us cry
They are all silent
They all look away
We become headlines to sell newspapers but they keep quite
They are silent
We count casualties of womxn body and wonder when will mine be counted amongst the stats
Our blood covers the hands of Lady Justice
Our blood runs in the Hands of the president and his cabinet
They are all so quiet
They see us being killed and send condolences as if that will stop these Men from killing us
We have become just another number
Another hashtag
Another femicide
Another rape case
Another buttered womxn
We have become just statistics they use to measure their impact on whipping us off
