OVERDUE CONCEPTS

Overdue Concepts is a content creation company with a passion for storytelling and bringing visual ideas to life. These ideas are curated specifically for each client and their success. Based in Johannesburg Gauteng, the company was founded by young creative, Sibonelo Ngubane and has been breaking ground in the fashion, food, corporate video & photography industry. The business’ work has been featured in various local and international platforms including GQ South Africa, Africa Magazine, The Sowetan and Mail and Guardian to name a few.

The business is driven by young creatives creating opportunities for themselves through their experiences, disciplines and natural creativity. From make-up artists, drone operators, videographers and photographers, Overdue Concepts has them all.

“The inspiration was the idea of a group of creatives being in control of their narratives. No longer waiting for a handout but rather stepping out, making things happen and finding the balance between art and commerce in todays world.” – Sibonelo Ngubane

One might say that the business is fairly new, but with its list of clients, you can see that the new kid on the block is moving and grabbing the right attention. The client list varies from celebrity personnel, musicians, fashion labels, corporate brands and media outlets.

With the current economic climate and the global pandemic, Overdue Concepts has found unique ways to stay afloat and keep its doors open.  These creative ideas include video content ie. cooking videos, dance videos, and other “quick tips by” videos that people can enjoy while at home during the hard lockdown.

“Working with like-minded creatives to complete amazing work is critical. These like-minded individuals understand the concept of momentum and seeing projects through once they’ve begun. Maintaining low overhead costs to avoid major cash flow problems is also important.” Sibonelo added.

Overdue Concepts promises to deliver more amazing content that will start conversations and has set up plans to work with more artists in the music, food, digital and fashion spaces.

We then asked the mastermind behind Overdue Concepts what advice does he have for other creatives out there and here is what he had to say:

“Have passion and a solid foundation of knowledge regarding the type of content you wish to create. This yearning to grow and know more is what will carry you forward. Also, absorb and implement as much business knowledge you can get your hands on to build systems for your business.” – Sibonelo Ngubane
