ENTRIES NOW OPEN FOR THE SKIPNATION ROPE SKIPPING CHALLENGE

Gymnastics South Africa’s second annual Skipnation Rope Skipping Challenge kicks off on Tuesday, 19 July.

Open to schools, clubs and the general public, this virtual competition is aimed at finding South Africa’s fastest rope skippers, while raising awareness of the need for basic fitness and physical education.

“We launched the Skipnation Challenge in 2020, as part of our drive to introduce basic fitness and physical education at all schools in South Africa,” says Marti Heri, Development Manager of Gymnastics South Africa. “Many schools in our country don’t have access to regular and structured physical education and our Gymnastics in a Box (GIB) programme is aimed at addressing this challenge. Included in the boxes are various resources, including skipping ropes and full curriculum, which gives schools the ability to implement basic physical education without the need for expensive equipment.”

“With the Skipnation Rope Skipping Challenge we’re aiming to activate the 280 schools that have received GIB, while also challenging the gymnastics community and general public to participate. This competition is open to everyone and we invite all South Africans to get skipping this July and August.

The Skipnation Rope Skipping Challenge is a speed challenge open not only to GIB beneficiaries, but to all schools, gymnastics clubs and the general public. The competition kicks off on Tuesday, 19 July and final entries are due by 19 August 2022.

All entrants are encouraged to submit their entry via video showing their best attempt in one of two speed challenges.
