Victoria Yards in Johannesburg was a hive of activity on Saturday the 5th of March as queers and allies flocked into the green yards to witness the first ever Elayfini lifestyle event hoisted by EXIT. 

Amongst the VIP guest were Radio host Didi Ditshego and Marlon67 who were treated to different kinds of entertainment which included performances by, Ziwe Mamgcina, Keyo Africa, Kagiso Maile, Nariska, Miz Campell, Yamisava, The Undefined Band and Toni Keys.

How can we forget the host with the most Gift Makhene who kept the patrons on their feet and serenaded them with his powerful voice? 

A dialogue with the original Mzansi Gay Choir as they call themselves was also a highlight of the event, this dialogue highlighted successes and struggles pf black gay men in South Africa, the dialogue was hosted by Exit Editor Dumisani Dube with a commentary by Martin Zulu. 

eLAYFINI is an exclusive lifestyle and edutainment event aimed at providing a safe space for Queer people, creating spaces and events that cater for the LGBTI+ community is imperative for Exit as a lifestyle brand. eLAYFINI is envisaged to be a monthly event to take place on the last weekend of every month, where people from all walks of life can come together to have celebrate life with spectacular drinks and amazing food while they are being educated and engulfed in the queer community, spirit of unity and euphoria of being free in being their true self without fear.

eLAYFINI, a coined word which translates to “life”, “bophelong” is used to contextualise life as whole, the reality of life, and the soft and comfortable life, the transitioning, political and educational evolvement of life as we know it. All this and more that humans find in gatherings for our wellbeing and fun is what is in this name and these events will bring about.

eLAYFINI is Exit’s latest event offering following the successful Exit Conversations Event in November 2020. eLAYFINI is in the main a Food, Drinks and Music (Live performances) open-air entertainment festival: eLAYFINI will take place every month-end weekend with adherence to all necessary safe, security and health protocols.
